After overwhelming demand for Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) Rebate Seminars in capital cities and major wine regions, the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA) has organised a free webinar for industry to go over changes to the legislation.
The WET changes were agreed by the Australian Parliament on August 17, 2017, and are now law, known as the Treasury Laws Amendment (2017 Measure No.4) Act 2017.
“Winemakers who currently access the rebate, or sell grapes to a wine producer who receives the rebate, need to understand the implications of the changes,” WFA Chief Executive Tony Battaglene said.
“We have the experts in the field from the ATO at the webinar to help winemakers and grape growers understand the changes within the new legislation.”
“We have the experts in the field from the ATO at the webinar to help winemakers and grape growers understand the changes within the new legislation. The ATO has demonstrated its commitment to helping ensure our industry is best placed to transition into operating under the new legislation.”
WFA and Wine Communicators of Australia will deliver the webinar on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 12.30pm (ACDT). Registrations are now open.
Around 1,200 people attended the seminar series in November and some sessions were booked out so it’s a good idea to register interest early.
Guest speakers from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) will again join the WFA team and present ‘Wine Equalisation Tax – New Measures’ in next week’s webinar.
The WFA WET Rebate Webinar is free for winemakers, grape growers and industry stakeholders to hear directly from the ATO on the changes to the WET Legislation and implications for their business.
