WINERIES across Australia have until Friday 25 July to enter this year’s James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge.
In the short two year history of the challenge, 960 wines from 350 wineries representing 60 different Australian regions have been judged, with 95 points or higher awarded to 40 Chardonnays to date.
Named in honour of Australia’s leading wine writer and Yarra Valley resident James Halliday, the competition evaluates each wine in their regional grouping, awarding the top wine for each region.
Halliday will announce the results via video link on the Chardonnay Challenge website at noon on Monday 22 September 2014.
The Prince Wine Store in South Melbourne will host a consumer tasting of the 2014 trophy winning Chardonnay and the best of region wines on Saturday 11 October.
